Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Ben Cardin (D-MD) have been awarded the inaugural Sarah and Timothy Fogarty Award for Bipartisan Public Service. The honor is conferred by UC’s Portman Center for Policy Solutions, which is based in the College of Arts and Sciences, and recognizes one Republican and one Democratic office holder who exemplify the values of bi-partisan, solutions-oriented governance in their work both in Washington and their respective states.

Carol R. Steger, former first lady of the University of Cincinnati, died on August 12, 2025 at the age of 85. Steger served as UC’s first lady from 1984 to 2013. Her husband, Joseph A. Steger, was UC’s 24th president and had the second-longest term in the university’s history. President Steger died in 2013.

Siddall Hall marks its first-year anniversary following a grand reopening in August 2024. The revamped residence hall on the UC campus is a hub of student life providing community and a supportive learning environment. First lady Jennifer Pinto remembers living in Siddall as an undergraduate.
